Study warns 11 million people taking heart medications wrong

More than 11 million people may have incorrect prescriptions for aspirin, statins and blood pressure medications, despite warnings from the World Health Organization (WHO) that the rationalization of drug use requires patients to receive medicines appropriate to their clinical needs in doses that meet their specific needs for a sufficient period of time And at the lowest cost to them and to their community.

A global problem spreading all over the world .. This is how the World Health Organization described the use of irrational drugs, noting in its estimates that more than half of all drugs are described, dispensed or sold improperly, and half of patients do not take drugs properly.

A new study not far from the warnings of the International Organization .. reported that more than 11 million may have incorrect recipes for aspirin, statins and blood pressure drugs.

In their findings, the researchers relied on an up-to-date set of calculations - known as pooled equivalents or PCEs - to determine the risk of a heart attack or stroke

Most doctors calculate patient risk using a PCE web calculator or smart phone application. Equations are also included in many electronic health records so that the patient's risk is automatically calculated while visiting the office.

However, there was controversy as to whether these estimates were based on obsolete data and therefore some patients were at risk because of excessive medication or lack of medication.

For their study, the researchers updated their personal capacity assessment data with the latest data in an attempt to improve the accuracy of CVD estimates to a large extent.

The researchers found that the second improvement in the equations was to update the statistical methods used to derive the equations.

By reviewing nanoscale data using new statistical data and methods, the researchers found that they could improve the accuracy of cardiovascular risk estimates and that old data caused the wrong treatment of 11 million people.

The World Health Organization (WHO) calls for 12 major interventions to encourage greater rationalization of consumption.
