Yahoo Messenger was closed after 20 years..

Yahoo has announced its intention to shut down the Yahoo Messenger service 20 years after its launch and recommended users to switch to another application called Squirrel. It also gave them six months to keep back up their old messages, Yahoo Messenger was launched in 1998 as Yahoo Pager, and included several features that ensured its strong competition with similar apps and services and even surpassed them. 

Yahoo has announced its intention to close its Yahoo Messenger service 20 years after its launch, and Yahoo, owned by Verizon Communications, has confirmed it will stop Messenger on July 17.
Yahoo also recommended that its users switch to another application called Squirrel, which is currently available in its trial version, so that it can be used only through an invitation to try it.

The company gave its users a six-month grace period to be able to back up old messages.
